Greg Miller – Morning Bus

Morning Bus by Greg Miller is a deeply human body of work born from one of America’s darkest moments. In December 2012, as the nation mourned the Sandy Hook tragedy, Miller — himself a parent of a first grader — found himself questioning what it means to grow up safely in today’s world. Out of that personal reflection came the idea for this long-term project.

Over the course of twelve years, using his 8×10 view camera, Miller photographed children in the quiet moments of waiting for their school bus. Standing at the edge of their driveways in early morning light, surrounded by fog, rain, or snow, these young subjects inhabit a space that is both ordinary and sacred — the fragile threshold between home and the wider world.

Each portrait, with Miller’s characteristic sensitivity and precision, transforms a familiar daily ritual into a universal meditation on vulnerability, care, and hope. The photographs are neither sentimental nor journalistic; they balance intimacy and distance, evoking the deep emotional charge that defines Miller’s work.

Morning Bus brings together over 60 portraits and a deeply personal text by the photographer. The book, published by L’Artiere, reflects the publisher’s signature attention to printing and material quality, making it a compelling object for collectors and photobook lovers alike.
