“Wars have been a constant backdrop throughout my life, unfolding as a part of the scenery. However, my engagement with these wars is limited to the screen; I am merely a passive observer.
The intention behind war photographs is to inform and bear witness, yet the media often simplifies them, leading to a depletion and distortion of their meaning in circulation.
What follows after all has been articulated remains uncertain…
I question whether flat images alone suffice to narrate the story, to bear witness, to inform. I harbor doubts. I yearn to physically connect, to scrutinize the distance we’ve established with these images. I strive to sculpt, to evoke new symbols. To transform the gesture into a realm that traverses the layers of time, forging interstices—zones of distortion where our memories and forgetfulness can surface.
Within the image’s essence, I seek material to stimulate thought, allowing it to permeate. A space for profound contemplation that unveils numerous representations embracing the intricacies of the world’s density. I seek a mental space—a memorial realm—that immediately challenges image representation and calls into question history.”
