Descrizione
Solvarv is a photographic journey into the Swedish countryside, where time unfolds at a slower pace and life is shaped by the changing light of the sun.
Made over two summers, the photographs were taken at a secluded house surrounded by forests, lakes, and open landscapes, a place without electricity or running water. Far from the urban environment, Joakim Kocjancic turns his attention to the quiet moments of everyday life, the intimacy of human relationships, and the subtle rhythms of nature.
Children run through sunlit fields, figures move along paths, and light settles across water and vegetation. Working exclusively with analogue black-and-white photography, Kocjancic captures these fleeting moments with a distinctive visual language in which grain, contrast, and blur become part of the experience.
The title, Solvarv, refers to the turning of the year and the return of light. It is also the name of the house where the photographs were made: a place to return to, where days seem to repeat themselves while remaining different each time.
Through an intimate and contemplative sequence, the book evokes the feeling of a summer remembered, a moment suspended between presence and memory.
