\nAt the same time, I realize that I have memories I have forgotten.
\nMy brother and I were born and lived in the same town for a long time, in a house with a blue roof.
\nThe view from the window hasn\u2019t changed much for as long as I can remember.
\nThere are houses and apartments, and I can still see the mountain over the hill.
\nHowever, even though nothing has changed, there was a moment I could feel that the view was different.
\nNot that a tall building had actually been erected, nor the mountain carved.
\nBut as I stare out of the window, various memories bring images, like a kaleidoscope.
\nThe tense atmosphere on a snowy day, my brother\u2019s back as he sits facing his desk, the sound of the bunk bed squeaking…
\nA while ago, a wall had been built down the middle of our room.
\nThe room was split, and my brother and I had our own spaces.
\nShortly after, I couldn\u2019t understand my brother.
\nEvery time he talked to me from the other side of the wall, I would ignore him and sometimes hurl abuse at him.
\nI considered him crazy and despised him.
\nI still cry every time I recall this memory.
\nI can\u2019t say it\u2019s not a sentimental feeling but it\u2019s more like instinctive weeping.
\nLike pulling your hand away when you touch something hot.
\nI think this may be why I had forgotten most of my memories in that room.
\nWhat if I\u2019d listened to what he said back then?
\nWhat if we had shared like we used to?
\nThese regrets were always a wall in my heart.
\nI wasn\u2019t conscious about this at first.
\nI didn\u2019t know how to face him.
\nLittle by little, we began to have conversations and the images from my brother\u2019s words started to stick in my mind.
\nAlso, another piece led me towards my brother.
\nDuring the winter of 2015, when I sat on the living room sofa.
\nSomething caught the corner of my eye.
\nIt was a piece of paper on top of an overflowing waste bin, and I quickly picked it out and unfolded it.
\nI felt a mysterious, impatient feeling.
\n\u201cSomething I know but I\u2019m not sure what it is\u201d.
\nIt was a feeling of vague certainty, creepy, a d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu, like turning the corner at a road you\u2019re walking down for the first time.
\nThe writing on the paper was surely my brother\u2019s.
\nIt made me more curious about my brother.
\nThe piece of paper and my brother\u2019s words were my clues and I started to photograph them.
\nBy figuring out what was written on the paper, I thought I\u2019d get close to what was beyond my brother\u2019s perspective.
\nThis may be my monologue of trying to see my brother\u2019s world.
\nHowever, what I\u2019m sure of is that this is my gift to my brother.
\nMy brother was what inspired me start photography in the first place. I wanted to show him a different world.
\nMy brother moved to my grandparents\u2019 house nearby shortly after he left the piece of paper, so I turned the space he left into a darkroom.
\nSometimes, I borrow my brother\u2019s eyes and look out of the window.
\nThen I close the curtains and turn on the red safety light to fix the kaleidoscopic images.
\nThese images here are only a part and they are the whole.<\/p>\n
