Published by L\u2019Artiere<\/strong>, Inferno & Paradiso<\/em> is the new book by internationally acclaimed artist Alfredo Jaar<\/strong>, created as part of a broader project presented at Cortona On The Move 2025<\/strong> and soon at the Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019\u00c9lys\u00e9e<\/strong> in Lausanne. This photobook is an act of memory, a political statement, and a moving reflection on the paradoxes of our time.<\/p>\n

A Double Image of the World<\/h3>\n

How do we live between horror and hope?
Jaar posed this question to twenty of the world\u2019s leading photojournalists, inviting each of them to select two photographs from their archive:
\u2013 one image representing their Inferno<\/em>,
\u2013 one image embodying their Paradiso<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The result is a devastating and luminous collection that challenges our numbness to suffering and reveals the small, radical moments of joy that persist even in the darkest places.<\/p>\n

A Photobook of Profound Humanity<\/h3>\n

This is not a survey of war photography. It is something deeper\u2014a collective self-portrait of those who have witnessed both atrocity and grace, and who have risked everything to document both.<\/p>\n

Without aestheticisation or spectacle, the book invites the reader to linger, reflect, and be changed.<\/p>\n

It is also a personal meditation by Jaar, who writes about his own experience in post-genocide Rwanda and the emotional collapse that followed\u2014an experience that led him to the conviction that beauty, dignity, and solidarity remain essential artistic and political tools.<\/p>\n
